Strong EU 2050 Climate Strategies
Alongside 31 parties including businesses, civil society, investors, public authorities and trade unions, ROCKWOOL Group have called for long-term climate strategies compulsory in the Energy Union governance, and help Member States make their strategies as effective as possible through providing guidance.
All singnatories of the Paris Agreement must achieve mid-century decarbonisation plans. This will be transposed in the Energy Union governance regulation in the EU. However, ROCKWOOL and the fellow signatories believe the proposed regulation is too weak. The joint statement calls on the EU to ensure strong climate strategies are made legally binding in the new Energy Union governance regulation, and that the regulation contains guidance for Member States to make strong 2050 strategies.
What is your view on the joint statement, do you agree the Energy Union governance regulation is too weak? Join the debate and leave your feedback in the comments below.
