Insulation Manufacturers Association Statement following release of the Interim Report by Dame Judith Hackitt

Insulation Manufacturers Association welcomes Dame Judith Hackitt’s interim report which shows a great understanding of the issues which need to be addressed and the direction of travel for the future. It identifies the weaknesses and failings that we have been concerned about and have needed to be addressed for some time.

Emphasis on Compliance, Competence and Responsibility is Essential

It is encouraging that the report recognises the complexity the construction industry faces and that there is no easy solution or quick fix. The emphasis on compliance, competence and responsibility is essential and we welcome the need for a more joined up approach across all stakeholders and at all points in the lifetime of a building.

The need to use and install materials correctly is an essential part in achieving performance and quality assurance for safe and efficient buildings and we are pleased that the report recognises this.

We therefore look forward to the full report and its recommendations in 2018.

  1. “No easy solution” and too much complexity? So, why not keep it as simple & clear as possible: NO combustible cladding and insulation materials in tall buildings.
